What goes into the creation of a dress? Love for clothing, first of all. Why girls? Why not grown ups? The older I get the more tolerant I become toward many things, my looks including. Clothes to me should be appropriate to the things I do at the time. When I’ve been a student, it was a fashion crime to leave home without make-up, nice dress and high heels. Well, a lot of time I had on my hands going about decorating my person. Things change. How ridiculous would I look nowadays in high heels, rushing between school, library, and pool, packing snacks and planing dinners. Clothes for me today is something trim and unobtrusive. It doesn’t mean that I am not a little girl at heart. I remember very well how it was to get something new for my birthday, or before going on vacation. Here, I said it: by designing girls dresses I’m indulging myself. Successful dress makes me feel like a child, happy carefree kid.
What is it between girls and their apparel? Who knows. Somehow it helps us to feel good about ourselves and from a very early age (in my experience at least).
So, how the dress is born… it begins with fabric, and irresistible itch. I’ll develop this thought some other time. Now I have to go and cut another batch of sun dresses for this season.
